VLC Web Browser Plugin

VLC (videolan.org) is also useful for web browser plugin. I’ve been tested the VLC plugin for Mozilla Browser and I.E Browser.

The installation step for using VLC as web browser plugin is

1. Get the VLC installer from videolan.org. Install the VLC, make sure the web plugin, Mozilla Plugin and ActiveX Plugin is installed.

2. Put a multimedia file in http server or ftp server. In the example below thefile’s URL is “http://127.0.0.1/boundin.avi

3. Copy paste html page below, save as html file. Remember to modify target=”http://127.0.0.1/boundin.avi” according to your file’s URL.

4. Note when using darwin streaming server , the target is sdp file’s URL.

Example :

<html>
<head><title>Demo of VLC mozilla plugin</title></head>

<body>

<h1>Demo of VLC mozilla plugin – Example 1</h1>

<embed type=”application/x-vlc-plugin”
name=”video1″
autoplay=”yes” loop=”yes” width=”160″ height=”120″
target=”http://127.0.0.1/boundin.avi&#8221;
volume=”100″
mute=”no”

/>

<br />
<a href=”javascript:;” onclick=’document.video1.play()’>Play video1</a>
<a href=”javascript:;” onclick=’document.video1.pause()’>Pause video1</a>
<a href=”javascript:;” onclick=’document.video1.stop()’>Stop video1</a>
<a href=”javascript:;” onclick=’document.video1.fullscreen()’>Fullscreen</a>
<br />

</body>
